Ferme Chemin Des Prairies Farm

Ferme Chemin Des Prairies Farm has been bringing its high quality 100% organic meats to its customers for 18 years. They are well-known for their wide range of fresh vacuum-sealed beef, hamburger, meat king poultry, chicken and beef liver, eggs, and beef, chicken and vegetable pies. With the guarantee of no additives or preservatives, their organic products are sought after by an increasing number of patrons who want a healthy alternative to the influx of processed foods in the marketplace today. “It is important for people to know where their food comes from,” says owner Barbara, “and many of our customers enjoy our selection for the healthy benefits of all-organic products. Our beef is cut an packaged by a provincially-inspected butcher and Steve received his food handling certificate from the Canadian Food Agency in 2002.”

Ferme Chemin Des Prairies Farm is located at 8031, Route 134, East Galloway, near Rexton, N.B. A multi-generational family farm, it is owned and operated by Steve and Barbara. Busy parents of four children, aged 12 years old to 7 months old, the older children are an integral part of the farm, each having specific chores they are responsible for. “The children help out in feeding the chickens and helping with the cattle,” says Barbara, “and they often help out at our kiosk at the market on Saturdays too!”

Indeed, the concept of the “family farm” lies at the heart of the Canadian character, being the backbone of early communities across our great nation. Barbara and Steve are, therefore, continuing a tradition that, today, has a renewed interest among a population on “going green” and “eating healthy.” The family farm has once again come to the forefront of a growing movement to get back to basics in our approach to a healthy lifestyle. In that regard, farms such as Ferme Chemin Des Prairies Farm are a valuable, natural resource for providing quality meat and poultry products that are not mass produced. As Barbara says, “We do not use growth hormones, steroids, or antibiotics in the care of our animals, and we do not employ the use of pesticides on our farmland. We use composted manure, which is organic, to fertilize our fields.”

Eva and Ray's Photography

The husband and wife team of Eva and Ray Cormier brings a unique vision and talent to both area Farmers’ Markets. With booths at the Marché Dieppe Market and the Marché Moncton Market, their wonderful works of photographic art are readily available to patrons at very affordable prices. Original photos mounted on card paper make beautiful all-occasion greeting cards that can also be framed for display.

Both Eva and Ray possess an artistic eye and a natural feel for composition and colour. The result is a unique perspective in the rendering of area landmarks, historic sites, panoramic landscapes, sweeping sea vistas, city skylines, small-town profiles, abandoned houses, flora, and fauna creatively depicted in a collection worthy of standing alongside many of the best photographers in the world! These two incomparable photographers have a true marriage of minds and have years of experience behind the lens. They display an expertise that has translated itself into fresh views of such ordinary subjects as simple rock formations, patterns in a sandy strip of coastline, or the designs in nature wrought by wind and water.

Ironically, it was through the lens of an instamatic camera that Eva first laid eyes on Ray. It was 1973 at the Frolic Acadien in Memramcook that Eva snapped Ray, then unknown to her, in conversation with musical artist Edith Butler. It was destiny then, that later meeting and forming a union, this couple has formed a common pastime that has been a successful venture on many levels. Ray, himself an artist, encouraged Eva to explore and develop her own distinctive style. A self-professed “visual,” Ray can instinctively discover perfect composition in any scene and this quality shows in each of his pieces.

What began as a shared hobby for Eva and Ray has developed into a lucrative venture. First established as a way to earn extra funds to help their son through university, Eva and Ray’s foray into the market scene has accomplished its goal and has gone beyond to expand into a labour of love. Always seeking for new horizons, Eva and Ray now offer a comprehensive wedding package for those wanting to record their special day.

For more information on Eva and Ray, contact them at 854-5351, or drop by their market locations and meet a couple who have recorded their world in detail infused with an impeccable skill and an undeniable flavour of mood and emotion. See the world anew through theexpert lens of Eva and Ray’s Photography.
