The Green Pig Country Market

The quaint Village of Salisbury is home to The Green Pig! No – it’s not an Irish pub! It’s a wonderful country store. A complete one-stop shopping experience for locals and visitors to our area alike, The Green Pig incorporates all the various elements of a top quality gift shop with regional pottery by local artisans, their own brand of handmade soaps, candles, and handcrafted jewellery; a vegetable shop with offerings from their own garden at the rear of the store as well as fresh produce from local farmers; a bakery with mouth-watering pies, breads and biscuits made onsite; an antique shop with lovely pieces from the surrounding old homesteads; a dairy shop with quality milk, eggs, and cheeses; a dry goods store with spices, free trade coffees, quality teas, and milled flour; a garden centre with nursery-grown blooms, soils, seeds and annuals and perennials; and most lately, a seafood shack with fresh scallops and Fundy lobster in season! All encompassed in a charming, rustic setting, The Green Pig can be found at the intersection of the Fredericton Road and the Trans-Canada Highway at the Big Stop Community of businesses. The Green Pig is also right across the road from the Beckwith’s Farm where the founders of this fine establishment have resided for generations.
The Green Pig was initially opened in the summer of 2007, expanding in 2008 to include a larger complex with a huge country verandah complete with seating. In May of 2009, the addition of a seafood market marks an ongoing commitment to bringing a high level of service of this superb country store. A family-owned and operated establishment, The Green Pig’s unique name comes from the annals of family lore. For the whole story, visit their very comprehensive website at http://www.greenpigmarket.com/ and check out a complete listing of goods with links to various suppliers of their fine products.
