Ferme Chemin Des Prairies Farm

Ferme Chemin Des Prairies Farm has been bringing its high quality 100% organic meats to its customers for 18 years. They are well-known for their wide range of fresh vacuum-sealed beef, hamburger, meat king poultry, chicken and beef liver, eggs, and beef, chicken and vegetable pies. With the guarantee of no additives or preservatives, their organic products are sought after by an increasing number of patrons who want a healthy alternative to the influx of processed foods in the marketplace today. “It is important for people to know where their food comes from,” says owner Barbara, “and many of our customers enjoy our selection for the healthy benefits of all-organic products. Our beef is cut an packaged by a provincially-inspected butcher and Steve received his food handling certificate from the Canadian Food Agency in 2002.”Ferme Chemin Des Prairies Farm is located at 8031, Route 134, East Galloway, near Rexton, N.B. A multi-generational family farm, it is owned and operated by Steve and Barbara. Busy parents of four children, aged 12 years old to 7 months old, the older children are an integral part of the farm, each having specific chores they are responsible for. “The children help out in feeding the chickens and helping with the cattle,” says Barbara, “and they often help out at our kiosk at the market on Saturdays too!”
Indeed, the concept of the “family farm” lies at the heart of the Canadian character, being the backbone of early communities across our great nation. Barbara and Steve are, therefore, continuing a tradition that, today, has a renewed interest among a population on “going green” and “eating healthy.” The family farm has once again come to the forefront of a growing movement to get back to basics in our approach to a healthy lifestyle. In that regard, farms such as Ferme Chemin Des Prairies Farm are a valuable, natural resource for providing quality meat and poultry products that are not mass produced. As Barbara says, “We do not use growth hormones, steroids, or antibiotics in the care of our animals, and we do not employ the use of pesticides on our farmland. We use composted manure, which is organic, to fertilize our fields.”
