Beatrice McFadden - Folk Artist
If art is the reflection of the human experience then the folk art of Beatrice McFadden certainly captures vignettes of our maritime surroundings in the scenes of the typical Canadiana represented in her collection of mini-masterpieces displayed at the Marché Moncton Market each Saturday. Beatrice’s charming depictions of slices of life revolve around pond hockey, rural settings full of country appeal, scenes of clam digging on the beach in summer, maple sugaring in spring, cows grazing peacefully in the fields – all recalling the simple pleasures and pastimes convincingly conveyed through the vision and talent of Beatrice’s own experience.
There has always been art in Beatrice’s home. When her children were small, she entertained them with paint and brushes with the result that they are all drawn to art, even passing the love of painting down to the grandchildren. Beatrice’s own son is none other than famed New Brunswick Folk Artist, Paul McFadden. Drawing upon her own childhood and life experiences, Beatrice took up her art in earnest after her husband passed away. Today, she is a recognized artist in her own right and her work can be seen at area Folk Art Shows throughout the Maritimes as well as at the Marché Farmers Market where her down-home scenes taken from her own memories have a maritime warmth and appeal that inspired folk art collectors everywhere. For more information on Beatrice’s folk art, contact her at (506) 532-9829, or visit her at the market and add a piece of authentic, handcrafted maritime memorabilia to your art collection!
