A Taste of Taiwan

January is the perfect month to lay back and relax after the hectic holiday season. Saturdays are a great time to visit the local farmers markets and treat yourself to a warm, delicious and hearty brunch from local vendors at the market. One of my favourite stops is at the Wok n’ Rolls kiosk at the Marché Moncton Market which serves original Taiwanese cuisine. Here one can choose from a tempting and sumptuous menu of fried noodles, spring rolls, fried rice, rice cakes, egg rolls, crispy fried wantons, and pot stickers, all served up onsite with an array of exotic, spicy sauces. Can’t choose? Want to sample a little of each item? Pick up a combo platter to enjoy a nibble at a time as you leisurely tour the market. How about something fresh n’ fruity? Wok n’ Rolls also has tasty and crispy waffles smothered in an assortment of freshly chopped fruit with a sprinkle of powdered sugar – it’s a terrific treat for all the senses, especially the taste buds!

Wok n’ Rolls is run by Ming-Huei Kao and Wai-Ho Lo. Originally from Taiwan, Republic of China, Ming-Huei Kao shares the foods of her homeland with scores of patrons each week at the market and her busy kiosk can attest to the immense popularity of her warm and wonderful offerings. In the mood for a little R and R? Come down to the market on Saturday and enjoy a truly delectable delight!
