Taste the flavour of German culture! For an exclusive selection of local wines, Black Forest style schnaps, brandy, and liqueurs, visit the Rosswog family in Baie Verte.

In the 1860’s their great-grandfather, Johann Ziegler, senior, vine grower and master carpenter, received the right to distill fruit from the Grand Duke of the province of Baden, Germany. The products developed were specific Black Forest Specialities. The historical distillers-right was treated conscientiously by their ancestors and has been carried on by following generations, so that they may now present you with a wealth of delicious fruit distillates. The well guarded recipes and expertise immigrated with the Werner Rosswog family to Baie Verte, New Brunswick, Canada in 1983.

Winegarden Estate Ltd., formerly Rosswog-Farm-Distillery, was established by Werner and Roswitha Rosswog in 1991, marking the First and Private Fruit Distillery in Atlantic Canada. The first product, "Johnny Ziegler Apple Schnaps", dry, Black Forest style, was released in 1992. In 1997 the first N.B. Farm Winery License was granted, completing production of a wide and exquisite selection of both Wines & Spirits. Today you find more than 50 different products made and sold on site.

Their inviting store, with sampling area, is a liked destination. The friendly staff will help you with your choice of wine, brandy & liqueur. Take a stroll through the newly planted vineyard. Come for a visit and stay for the experience! Picnic tables are provided.

To accommodate bus groups, family reunions, birthdays and anniversary celebrations they offer tasting packages for up to 50 guests. Special events are held during the year. Winegarden Estate Ltd. is located on Route 970 in Baie Verte, NB, close to the Confederation Bridge to PEI, just minutes off Hwys. 15 & 16. Hours are from 9 am to 5 pm daily. The Rosswog family welcomes you year round. Cheers!
