Adélaine Thomas is the person in whom creative talent, artistry, and a unique imagination combines to give us a doll maker extraordinaire! An occasional vendor at the Marché Moncton Market on Saturdays, she will be a permanent fixture at the market starting in April. It’s certainly worthwhile to drop by and experience her superb handmade, museum quality dolls. They all depict various evanescent creatures from the world of fairies, gnomes, woodland beings, and wizards with faces, hands, and feet moulded from sculpy clay and given expressions of realistic depth and expression with a definitive story to each doll. Dolls’ bodies are soft sculptured in fabric and padding and features a variety of materials such as lovely spangled netting, fur, textured wools, bark and beads all combined to appeal to the eye and to the touch with unusual colour and texture. These dolls are truly a joy to behold.

A retired educator and nurse who hails from Shediac Bridge, NB, Adélaine has honed her craft to a level of excellence that far surpasses the humble hobby it all began with. Now with a life of its own, Adélaine’s doll making has led to lucrative sales both at home and in the U.S. With a delicate grace and ethereal quality, Adélaine even looks like one of her own creations.
