Folk Art by Mac Kelly

Meet Mac Kelly – builder, contractor, and expert at salvaging and re-claiming old building materials from homes, barns, and abandoned buildings and transforming them into beautiful new folk art and rustic collectibles for the home and garden!

Using old wood from floors, walls, bannister posts, wainscotting, and picket fences as well as old tin and slate from roofing, Mac breathes new life into these materials creating a line of beautiful and functional items which include bird houses for smaller birds such as chickadees and golden finches, wall-hung shelves and cabinets, coat and hat racks, blanket boxes, framed country scenes, and hallway mirrors with harness hook and old-fashioned clothes-pin pegs to complete the “heritage” look.

A favourite item is the tin-roofed birdhouse designed to withstand harsh weather, as well as the lighthouse birdhouse complete with a glass-topped “light” which is a great addition to any garden with its Maritime theme. Mac Kelly’s work can be found at both locations of the Farmers Market or he can be contacted throughout the week at 534-9111.

Got a special request? Have a design you want made up out of old rustic wood with the authentic patina of distressed wood or paint? Mac can probably accommodate your ideas as well. For a great Christmas gift idea, visit this special display – you’re sure to find a truly unique gift.

Check out the picket fence birdhouse garden stake all decorated for Christmas. It’s the perfect decoration for your outdoor display! At Mac Kelly’s booth you’ll find folk art at its finest.
